Sweepstakes Scam |
Winslow Township Police Department is
alerting all residents, specifically the
elderly, of a lottery sweepstakes scam.
An Albion resident was recently a victim
of the US Sweepstakes Scam which
originates from Las Vegas, Nevada, but
is actually being orchestrated in
Kingston, Jamaica. The Jamaican Lottery
Scam, in which unsuspecting seniors are
"befriended" by con artists, and are
told to send money to Jamaica to cover
taxes and fees for a 2.5 million jackpot
that they have won. The victims of this
scam will never receive the prizes they
are promised in return. The scammers
will attempt to build a continuing
friendship with the victim, so seniors
refuse to believe that they are being
scammed. Residents are cautioned that
if you haven't entered a specific
