Permit to Carry a Handgun (Must See Secretary)
Please provide exact change when paying for ID Cards / Permits, because the Police Department does not have a cash register.
- You must present two forms of identification, including a photo ID
- (NJ Drivers License, Social Security Card, Passport etc.)
- NO CEDIT CARDS
If you have never applied for a Firearms Identification Card or Permit to Purchase a Handgun in New Jersey, then you must be fingerprinted (See Secretary) for the application. There is a fingerprint fee of $57.00 that you will pay directly to MorphoTrak.
If you are applying for a duplicate Firearms Identification Card or a Permit to Purchase a Handgun and have previously been issued a Firearms Identification Card or a Permit to Purchase a handgun by this Police Department or another Police Department in New Jersey then you must submit an $18.00 money order. The money order must be made out to The Division of State Police.
On your application for firearms - do not use relatives as a reference, (This includes Fiance’, girlfriend/boyfriend, etc) Use your friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
A mental health release form must accompany every application for Firearms ID Cards, Permit to Purchase a Handgun and Change of Address Form. (DO NOT SIGN THIS FORM, I WILL WITNESS YOUR SIGNATURE)
Applications will be accepted at the Police Department from 7:30 am to 3:45 pm Monday thru Friday. Do Not leave your application with the Dispatch Center. Applications will only be accepted by the Chief’s Secretary. There are no exceptions. You may call (609) 561-3300 to verify the Secretary is in the office and available to take your application. (Vacations, Sick, etc.)
